I have a dachshund and wanting a papillon but my mom thinks papillons are to small for them I don’t think so but do the 2 breeds get along most of the time?

Hello everyone, this is my first post.  I have been reading through the forum a bit and have learned some good info.  Anyway, I just adopted a rescued dachshund who is about 2-3 years old.  He is very timid however not the least bit aggressive.  He is already potty trained and “loves” being in his crate I just bought him.  I don’t know if this is out of fear though.  I am very patient and have all the time in the world to help make his transition easier however this will be my first pet as an adult.  Does anyone have any pointers they could share with me.  He’s such a sweet and well behaved dog that I want to make sure he can enjoy his new life.

Thanks.

I brought my male home when he was about 6 weeks old and I already had a 2 year old female. He was nervous at first like normal and then started to warm up to us and has become very attached to me and follow me around just like my female does. I have been trying to socialize him with other dogs by taking him to the dog park and at friends homes with dogs. He is always afraid of all other dogs and jumps on me for him to pick him up. He is now 1 year old and is still afraid of being around other dogs. Recently, we had a bad expirience at a dog park where a larger dog kept chasing after him and intimidating him. When my female tried to ward off the bigger dog, the bigger dog bit her. My male, being chased and then seeing his sister attacked, is now more nervous than ever when going to parks or visiting other homes with dogs. What can i do to make him more comfortable?

Hi,

ToniK is a male 4 yr old daschund.  I have adog walker come in twice every day to take him down for his routine jobs. There were no issues all these years. But off late (more than a month now),  he started growling when my mom used to go to put on his belt and now he refuses to go!

I come back from office and then I take him down. Its like almost 12 hours without a break. What could be the reason and what can I do about it. Please help since we’re all worried at home.

There was a change in environment. We shifted our home last year. He’s well adjusted to his new home and the walker too.  This sudden change in behaviour is worrying us.

Thanks in advance

Soni

Recently adopted a 6 year old Dachshund who is sweet and my daughter loves her! We have a cat we will not get rid of so we want to know if it is possible to get the dog to leave the cat alone. Unfortunately, the dog has had little to no exposure of cats and is attacking ours.

I have just adopted a young Dachshund, 2-3 years old. She is happy, playful and has all of the typical traits I’ve been reading about on this site about the breed but I have a question. My Winnie wants to sleep under our bed sheets deep under the covers. Is this common?
